I ought to point out, as a journalist working within the newspaper industry, that learning Teeline shorthand is a must if you want a staff position, and an honours degree in journalism is worthless if you're qualifications are not NCTJ accredited.
Great article by the way, a really worthwhile read wherever people are on the ladder.

[...] The Arsenal Fan Share scheme is a nice PR move (notice how journalists were quick to call it ‘Barcelona’ style ownership structure without even knowing what Barcelona’s ownership structure looks like), and ultimately the implementation of a modified MyFootballClub scheme on a Premier League club. Remember MyFootballClub? [...]

I have been writing Football content for years for different people. I should really take that leap into this profession. Though you could say i am already there. Effciency is key always. If you have poor time management skills forget it.

I agree with what you have said, but let us not forget the way Barcelona have handled the Fabregas transfer situation. I am not an Arsenal fan but I have friends who are and the way Barca continue to disrespect Arsenal and blatantly discuss Fabgregas moving there is disgraceful. I understand also that some may say that it is just the players who are doing/saying those things but firstly, let me remind you of Joan Laporta who seemed hellbent on bringing the subject up several times after Arsenal FC had made it clear that no discussions will take place. Secondly, it should be the clubs place to monitor what the players are saying and if they were serious about respecting Arsenal FC's wishes then they should have the players who represent the club behave in such a manner.

Good little piece but maybe some people miss some elements of their character.

I'm in the same position, receiving several e-mails each day from theese PR agencies. Usually I reply to see if they can offer any products that we can arrange a competition around but most of them expect to get "free" coverage just by adding World Cup 2010 to their product explanation.

And it's so obvious that most of the e-mails from theese PR agencies are just mass e-mails. I agree with your advice that they should personalize and spend some minutes scanning through the site they are contacting before.

Thanks for a great article! Hope it can attract some readership from the targeted people.

Have to agree with you. Adsense should definitely be avoided as a primary focus. I have no doubt that if you continue to focus on service and quality that you will succeed in the long term.

Barcelona are one of the worlds top clubs, a great advert for modern football, it will be interesting next season when Mourinho goes to Madrid as they should make the competition closer, we look forward to a great season

Tried and failed on newsnow. Probably because of a requirment I didn't really get.

I don't really know how to set up a dedicated headlines page.

Thanks,

£40,000 to fleet leisure as part of the myfc deal, and the club cant use the traing ground. It stinks. The whole deal is sooo naive. Will Brooks at myfc should hang his head in shame. I feel sorry for all involved with Ebbsfleet for their sorry involvement with these myfc characters.
