Sportech have bought popular football news website 4thegame.com for £600,000.

Sportech said the website, which has 700,000 monthly users and an international customer base, would provide a platform to cross-sell and market its range of soccer games. Fast Web Media, which is led by chief executive Michael Flynn, will continue to provide operational and creative expertise to 4thegame.com.

Incidentally, Fast Web Media is Manchester based and have handled online advertising for Manchester United in the past.

No revenues or other key stats have been mentioned but in my view, either 4thegame.com is not worth £600,000 ($1m+), or football blogs today are horribly under-priced / poorly packaged. Probably both.

Here’s hoping that some blogger / football fan makes it big and matches the numbers thrown around for slightly-above-average sites like 4thegame.com - no disrespect intended.
